A. Here's a few diet habits that you could do. I am inspired by the Japanese low rate of obesity and life longetivity. Walk more often! Many Japanese don't rely on their car or public cars to do their activities. They do a lot of walking and climbing stairs on their daily activities. Japanese also ride bicycle often, those are good ways to increase the calories output. Don't eat like a giant! You can start reducing your consumption, it may take sometime before your stomach is used to it. Don't eat until you are full! Eat until you are 80% full. Consume more fish based foods rather than meat based products. Eat slowly! Compare the eating speed of a person that uses chopstick versus a person that uses spoon and fork. The chopstick is… [cont.]

What kind of a weightloss or healthy diet plan would work for you?
Q. I'm sure you have all tried some kind of diet. If I could design the perfect wieghtloss diet or healthy diet program for you, what would I need to do? Think of what would make you enthusiastic enough to not quit, but look forward to continuing this program on a daily basis for the rest of your life.

A. A food plan that is easy to follow without any expensive things to buy. A food plan that lets me feel satified with every meal and not still starving. A food plan that allows me the freedom to choose what I want to eat - within reason. A food plan that doesn't cut out one or more food groups. A food plan that gives good results on the scales and in inches. A food plan that doesn't make me tired and leaves me with no energy and headaches. A food plan that lets you have a little treat every now and again without you putting 2Lbs back on. A food plan that feels like a food plan and not a DIET. I think that is all I could really ask for. Hope this helps. Bon

How long does it take for healthy diet to work?
Q. For the past years I've had the typical SAD diet. Too much fried, too much sugar, too much everything and all the wrong things. I'm thinking about starting a vegetarian diet and adding more raw fruits and veggies to my diet. I was wondering how long would it take for the healthy diet to start working and helping my body. I keep hearing about health benefits from vegetarian diets -- how long before those benefits work for me?

A. There is no magic pill or program for weight loss, regardless of what others tell you. When I first started weight watchers, it took me about 6 - 8 weeks before I saw steady benefits i.e. steady 2 - 3 lb loss per week. You need to follow a sensible diet and start exercising. Start eating fruits and vegetables and lean protein. There is a great show on the Lifestyle channel, Cook Yourself Thin. They show you how to change your fave recipes to low fat, low calorie. It s a really neat show. Their idea is that you take your goal weight and multiply by 10. This number is your maximum daily calories. You need to eat what's called filling foods to not get hungry all the time. Things like apples and bananas are filling. Almost all types… [cont.]

A. Here is an exercise plan as well as some info about how to eat correctly. There are also side links to sample meal plans and other good information. I have used a very similar system to maintain less than 5% body fat for the past 23 years. It is not because of my genetics because obesity runs in my family.

Have you got a healthy diet schedule for me?
Q. Ok, so if you have read my last 2 questions you will know i am trying to make it into a Professional wrestling career so have you got a diet that's healthy. Its mainly focused on building muscle, energy, good health and losing fat. So any schedules or advice would be greatly appreciated.

A. The first thing my son did when he got into wrestling was to get tons of grapefruit and every morning he drank a couple of cups of coffee and ate 1/2 grapefruit(eat a whole if they are small)with it. The caffeine is actually a fat burner and some acid in the grapefruit allows that caffeeine to burn more fat longer. In addition, my son ate a lot of salad and a lot of protein--for snacks it was fruits instead of cookies and goodies, and I have to say that it worked so well for him that I recently started a grapefruit regimen myself and it really works. This is what I do: 1 24oz cup of fat free or low fat yogurt 1-2 cups of coffee and 1/2 to 1 grapefruit in the morning--plenty of water in between. lunch: I only eat European Rye bread from… [cont.]

What is an effective but healthy diet for a busy teenager?
Q. I'm 17 years old, 5 foot 4 inches tall, and 175 pounds. I'm really busy with school and extracurricular activities, but I think that it's time to make my health a priority. I understand that fitness/healthy living is a life style, and I'm not asking for a quick fix either. I just want to know: what is a good diet for me?

A. I think the best weight solution (especially for someone as busy as you!) is this; substitution. Before you reach for a bag of chips or hamburger try a Yoplait Yogurt instead. they are portable and delicious. Try granola, water or natural juice instead of soda, sandwiches instead of pizza. Excersice is great also if ytou have the time. Just whenever you eat something ask yourslef could I be eating something better? Also eat breakfast, it speeds the metabolism! Good luck and be patient!

A. set yourself a healthy goal to maintain your current weight you should eat 2000kcals per day. so to lose weight you need to restrict this to 1500kcals. but make sure you eat no less than 1500kcals as this will slow your metabolism & you won't lose anything. if you are restricting your diet it's also a good idea to take a multivitamin to ensure you are getting all your vital nutrients. if you cut your cals back to 1500 per day & do exercise 2-3 times per week you will lose 1-3lbs per week easily. drink plently of water, try & increase the amount of fruit & veg you eat & swap white bread for brown bread, full cream milk to skimmed milk etc.

What is a healthy diet and exercise routine for a teenager?
Q. I'm 13 years old and I don't do any exercise. I'm not fat, I'm just average. But I don't think I'm really that healthy so I want to know a healthy diet and exercise routine. I'm not really aiming to lose weight. I only take a walk around the neighborhood for 30~45 minutes. I just eat anything that I like. I'm not very obsessed with my weight I'm just trying to be healthy people!!!

A. Use exercises that use you own body weight (like push-up, pull ups, dips n such). If your going for a nice stomach, I've found combining leg lifts as you do a crunch is quite effective. As far as diet, stay away from high sugar intake. People become addicted to sugar and it starts in the early teens. Drink mostly water. Eat a healthy balance, and maybe talk to your parents about taking a multi-vitamin too. Cardio is important and when the motivation hits you go jogging. Start with 15mins and increase the time at your pace.

Can you help me with planning a healthy diet?
Q. I want to eat "right". However, I don't know what is healthy for sure and what is not. For example: apples appear to be good, but what about the sugar? Salad seems good, but what kind of dressing? Of course, these are only but a couple of questions I have. I need a healthy diet for sure because my family history is rather bad. I am 24 right now, a little overweight, so I am looking to "nip this in the bud" now and live a healthy and long life. Your help is very appreciated.

A. The best way to do so is to consult a nutritionist, who can tailor your diet to your needs.

What is the definition of a healthy diet?
Q. I have no clue what can be considered as a healthy diet.
Asked by Katherine S - Wed May 2 10:58:23 2007 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments
A. A healthy diet consists of a wide variety of fresh fruits and vegetables, lean protein, whole grains, low and non-fat dairy products. Saturated fats, trans fats, sugar, and alcohol are limited, and you can use spices as well. Drinking 8-10 glasses of water is also recommended. With the variety you get the most nutrients, and you can avoid boredom. The Mayo Clinic has an excellent website detailing different healthy diets that work with these principles. They also use the food pyramid developed by the US government... maybe it's the FDA (Food and Drug Administration).
